Game Control Board

The legislature in 1955 established the Gambling Control Council (“Council”) within the Nevada Revenue Commission, the purpose of which was to implement a policy aimed at eliminating unwanted elements of gambling in Nevada, as well as establish licensing rules and the operation of gambling. The council was also to establish rules and regulations for all tax reports to be submitted to the state by the licensees of gambling.

The council consists of three full-time members appointed by the governor for a four-year term, one of whom serves as chairman, and is responsible for regulating all aspects of the Nevada gaming industry.

The Nevada Gambling Commission and the Nevada Gambling Control Board govern the Nevada Gambling Industry by strictly regulating all persons, places, practices, associations and related activities. We protect the integrity and stability of the industry through our investigation and licensing practices, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations while maintaining high standards in the gambling industry. Through this practice, we are able to ensure the proper collection of taxes and fees, which are an important source of revenue for Nevada.
